Found out during our Home Performance Test that the venting for our regular hot water heater was not working because the house is too tight to propoerly vent the CO2 out the B-vent. Power venting really wasn't an option because again there is not enough make-up air in the house. So we had to look at other options... |

Our solar electric system installation has begun. The panels are mounted on the roof. 20 Sanyo HIT-200 watt panels were used to produce 4KW of DC power. This is going to be fed into a Frontius 4000 mounted in the basement. I will have pictures to follow soon. More wiring to be completed today with WE Energies coming out tomorrow for initial inspection. *UPDATE 12/20/08 * PV system is complete and WE Energies has signed off on the project and just waiting for the Focus on Energy rebate at this point. *UPDATE 4/13/09 * Seeing results from the solar! Not much to report at this point...but plans are in the works. We have to replace the standard natural gas hot water heater due to failing the emissions test when the vent fans are running. The plus side is we will get a sealed combustion unit with a higher efficiency.

Received my Icom IC-Z1A from a purchase on eBay. Radio came in excellent condition. Ham I recieved itĀ from said he barely used it and it was time to clean house. Picked this radio because I wanted a dual band HT and this was a 5.0/5 on eHam and even though the radio is 10 years old, I think it is still a great purchase.
First off the radio has all the features of today's HT's...but not as small. Being a bigger guy with bigger hands - that is not a bag thing. It is the size of my Kenwood which is only a 2m radio. I really like the layout of the buttons. Some have dual functions but it is easy to know what each does. It is easy to program as well. 40 channels per band gives me more than enough for this area. |
